Brooklyn born, New York native, Al-Karim Powell-Darensburg has worked in the fields of Music, Fashion and Entertainment for the last 20 years. Over this time he has trained models, assisted in developing new designers and worked with numerous recording artist and celebrities in the capacity of artist development director, manager, and consultant.

Mr. Powell-Darensburg had the unique privilege of building the first wardrobe department for Black Entertainment Television (BET), where he worked as a fashion stylist for all on-air personalities and performing guest. While at BET he also worked for the Children’s and Entertainment Television for such shows as Teen Summit and Caribbean Rhythms.

As a visual merchandiser, he has created scenes and campaigns stores such as Macy’s, The Hecht Company, Benetton, Oaktree, Boyvie Studio’s, ChicWear-NY and Style vs. Freedom.

Over the last 20 years he has perfected his talents of photography, make-up artistry and fashion styling. He recently graduated from the world-renowned, Parsons School of Design with a certification in Fashion Design. He is embarking upon his first solo collection, aptly named American Kouture.

Mr. Powell-Darensburg volunteers his time to train young adults in Jr. High, High School and College in the entertainment industries. He enjoys being a mentor and a positive role model for young minds.
